Scout Park stars as the Filming Location. Lights, Camera, Action!
Dallas Brooks Scout Park at Upper Beaconsfield has added a new attribute to its catalogue of features – Film Location! Emerging filmmaker Thomas Fenner and his team are finalizing their latest student short film at the Park.
The location is ideal for a period film.
The Park with its natural palette and low ambient noise has proved to be an ideal location for this period piece of filmmaking. Situated within an hour’s drive from Melbourne, Dallas Brooks Scout Park at Upper Beaconsfield was recced (visited), the park was chosen by Thomas Fenner and his team for their student short film.
The bush site, very similar to Ned Kelly country in central Victoria and Ben Hall country in New South Wales was a great find for the film team. The ability to close the site to camping during production while having amenities onsite and close by in Upper Beaconsfield sealed the deal for the decision to use this idyllic film location.
Authenticity is invaluable in filmmaking
A further advantage for the actors and the camera is the feel of the Park. The authenticity of the environment reflects and reveals itself through the performances of the actors and the unmasked eye of the camera.
Thomas Fenner’s film
We have been sworn to secrecy regarding the title, plot, and ending, but we have been given some photos to share with you. Can you work out what part of the Park has been used? Our Map might help? We are not telling, but we think that if these photos are any indication, the student short film will look and feel stunning once completed.
Dallas Brooks Scout Park, might not have had the lead role, but we think it should get an award for best supporting role as a great filming location. As for Thomas Fenner’s latest student short film, his talent is evident and we are happy to support emerging talent. Lights, Camera, Action!
